Education as a Pathway
to Opportunity

Background

In Ethiopia, private education offers a critical bridge to better opportunities—but cost often stands in the way. This initiative provides full and partial scholarships for students who show strong academic promise, while also supporting their families with business and finance training that builds long-term resilience.

Objectives

We believe access to quality education should not be determined by income. This initiative is designed to:

  • Expand access to private education
  • Support strong academic performance
  • Train families in business and finance
  • Help households grow income and savings

Opening Doors Through Education

The Challenge

Access to private education in Ethiopia isn’t about ability or effort—it’s about affordability. Public schools are overcrowded and under-resourced, and families who can’t afford private tuition are locked out of better futures for their children.

Our Approach

We identify motivated students and provide scholarships covering tuition, school supplies, and uniforms. Families commit to supporting their child’s education—and take part in free business and personal finance training. Currently, 73 students are enrolled, and more families are eager to join.

From Support to Impact

This is more than access to education—it’s a two-generation strategy. Students must maintain strong academic performance to remain in the program. Meanwhile, their parents are implementing what they learn—setting financial goals, paying down debt, and launching or growing small businesses.

What’s Next

We’re preparing to welcome more families this school year. Alongside scholarships, we’re deepening support for household entrepreneurship—helping families increase income, build savings, and gain independence.
Every new student represents a family taking a step toward long-term change.
