Building Something So Good in Liberia

At Baurau, we don’t just invest in ideas—we invest in people with the grit, vision, and heart to build businesses that uplift their communities. One of those people is Augustine—the founder of So Good Products, a homegrown soap brand based in Monrovia.

When we first met Augustine, we were struck by his tenacity. Operating with limited resources, he had already grown a loyal customer base and built a product line that was gaining traction in his neighborhood. But he had his sights set on something bigger: a business that could expand beyond his street and become a household name across Liberia.

We believed in that vision—and in him.

So we partnered with Augustine, offering him professional branding support, website development, and strategic capital to help him scale. Our goal wasn’t to take over, but to amplify what he’d already built. With the right tools and investment, we knew So Good Products could become not just a better brand, but a stronger business.

From Soap to Scale

Since the collaboration, So Good’s growth has been immediate and impressive.

Production has increased by more than 50%, thanks in part to a bulk investment in kernel oil—the essential base ingredient in Augustine’s soaps. That surge in output reflects growing demand, which is also clear in the numbers: weekly sales have jumped by over 40% since our relationship began.

Even more encouraging is how Augustine continues to adapt in the face of challenges. He’s navigating price hikes and supply chain issues by building relationships directly with oil producers, cutting out middlemen to lower costs and secure better inventory. And he’s already thinking ahead: hiring new workers, optimizing packaging, and planning to bring on a dedicated finance professional to improve tracking and accountability.

The Power of Local Leadership

By investing in people like Augustine, we’re not just creating jobs or growing sales—we’re helping to build long-term economic stability, one entrepreneur at a time.

And it’s not just about money or branding. It’s about trust, mentorship, and walking alongside founders as they face real-world obstacles. Augustine has weathered workforce shortages, raw material scarcity, and even illness—but he’s still standing, still producing, and still growing.

What’s Next for So Good?

With a new website in development and brand assets ready to roll out, So Good is preparing to reach even more customers. Augustine’s dream is to become a leading producer of affordable, high-quality household soap in Liberia—and eventually, to expand into other product lines like detergent and liquid soap.

We’re proud to be a part of his journey—and proud of the example he’s setting for other Liberian entrepreneurs.

This is the kind of growth we believe in: local, sustainable, and deeply personal.
